Tasty Halloween Crafts Using Stencils For Cookie Decorating

Here's a Halloween-Crafts project that is fun, not only is it good to eat. You can see how a template designer, I am always looking for new and creative ways to use stencils. And, as a person can eat (especially sweets) loves it seemed only natural to find a way to use stencils with food, right? So I pulled some scary Halloween masks (a witch, a ghost, a cat, a bat, a skull and a spider) and went to work to find out how the pictures got on aCookie.

Well, I told you how much I love food, but now I have to admit that I'm no Betty Crocker. I can not tell you how many different ways I tried to convey a perfect image from a stencil onto a cookie. I bet my husband and I each gained 20 pounds eating all disasters. Not to mention all the money that I deliver at the grocery store and the local crafts house arrest spent. All this only to find out that was the easiest, cheapest and most obvious way is the best method of all. So,Here it is - that is, how to decorate Halloween cookies with stencils. Oh yeah! Do not miss out on the hints and tips that I have in the end for some great creative ideas.

Well, first you have to find a few designs that fit the template for the cookies. There are many printable Halloween stencils on the Internet. It is best a template that a single overlay design (which means it is ready with only a sheet or layer, locate). Here are some designer made templates forCookies, they are the right size and proportion. Once you found the templates for you all you have to do to print appeal. If it is not the right size to fit on a cookie just resize it to copiers and follow these next steps.

Trace the stencil on a sheet of stencil film, such as acetate or Mylar. Make sure the pictures are about 2 cm between them. Use a pair of scissors, the traced drawings separate from each cut with 1 inch of space surroundedthem.

Use a craft knife cut the objects of each template. You have several options for the craft knife. I prefer an X-ACTO use it with a fine point blade pictured. Make sure the blade is sharp at all times or they will not be a good clean cut. I find it easier to rotate the stencil so that you always cutting with your wrist at a comfortable angle.

As you work with food, wash your stencil really well and dry thoroughly.

Baking with yourFavorite recipe. Since I was already that I am not a baker, I'll let you know that I boxed up ready version where you only need to add an egg to go. But if you are a skilled cook, go ahead and get your goodies out of nothing. Sugar cookies work best because they have the smooth surface after baking. Cookie with too much texture is not an image to create a good stenciled. I like something flattened the tops of the cookies right after they come out of the oven with aSpatula. If the stencil is flat on the cookie it has a much better picture, as if they roll over rounded edges get. Let the cookies cool.

Prepare your "color" by adding water to powdered sugar. You want to get a thick consistency, which is very smooth. It does not take very much water. The mixture should not easily drip off the end of a spoon. Make colors, adding food coloring. For black, red mix, blue and green in the same number of drops.

Place the template on theCookie. Use one finger to the sugar mixture into the stencil openings DAB. As is funded with a regular stencil, use a dabbing or up and down movement to the surface color and dot with no rubbing back and forth, what color seeping under the stencil edges. In stenciling, you should always use a little color, so it does not seep under the stencil does not. There is no difference. The best tool is to open an index finger lightly dab of icing sugar and water mixture over the stencil.Make sure your fingers are not dripping with paint. "

Carefully remove the stencil by clicking directly on. You do not want to draw on the template over the wet paint mixture, which is the color smear. It may take some practice, but you remember to eat the mistakes.

Here are the hints and tips that I have promised you:

You may want to make a different size than the normal cookie 2-1/2 or 3-inch circle. No problem! Please copy the paper and shrink or enlarge the sizefit the desired range, the picture instead. Then move on to trace. This is great if you want to make one big cake abhaben Cookie!

If you are cutting out the images for the templates, not throw away the parts that you cut away. They can be used to make negative images on the cookies. Of course it's a bit Trickey on the stencil pieces after you have set the color around this product, but with a little practice, you can remove it to an art. And just think of the creative cookies youcan with these new options.

If you use a cookie recipe for a highly structured, such as oatmeal or chocolate chip, you can have a base layer of powdered sugar and water to a very smooth surface and then create a template that your image to. Actually, just how creative you are with cookie decorating with stencils to add. For example, you can now have a background of a black circle on the cookie behind a white ghost. Make sure that the first layer of paint has dried thoroughlybefore your picture.

If you can not, Mylar or acetate at your local craft supply store, try transparency films in an office supply house. Just make sure that the material is pen and ink, so that you can pursue them and that they feel comfortable to accept the food. You also have a large number of providers of stencil films on line.

So now you know how to stencil images on a cookie. You can small cookie treats for all of you ghosts and goblins who come knocking onYour door. Have fun and Happy Halloween this Stenciling!
